Good Skin Care for Acne Prone Skin

Before we even start talking about cosmetics for acne prone skin, it's important to talk about skin care and acne - and products and health strategies that can help calm down the acne monster.

natural beauty at Glow Girl It's not that hard to take care of normal skin but when you have acne you need to "handle with care".  All sorts of sensitivities are apparent with acne prone skin - cosmetics and cleansing products, diet, and psychological and hormonal factors.

Rule number 1: avoid strong fragrances and oil in everything.  Don't wash your face any less that twice a day - more if you take part in strenous activity that makes you perspire.  Try not to scrub your skin as infection will spread, rinse your skin after applying your fragrance-free cleanser or soap.  Use your fingertips and forget about sponges and face cloths. Don't forget your hair - dermatologists also recommend you shampoo your hair regularly; but again, make sure you're using a mild, non-fragranced shampoo that won't cause further irritation. I recently read of a really good natural way of removing excessive oil from your skin - take some orange peel (preferably organic and well washed).  Dry it out and grind it to a fine powder and apply to damp skin (don't rub)!

We'll talk about cosmetics in another article but for acne sufferers it's important to understand that most cosmetics on the market contain chemicals which can cause pimples in acne prone skin; if nothing else, always look for cosmetics in particular that are oil and fragrance free.  If you're looking for a quick recommendation, I'd say check out the Bare Escentuals mineral-based products in the Glow Girl online store.
